Saturday, 7/25/2026 a wildland fire started in the Kane Springs area between Upper Reynolds Creek and Rabbit Creek roads. The fire was started by the hot exhaust of a crashed ATV. Fire units from MRW, Melba, Marsing and Upper Deer Flat assisted BLM in control, containment and suppression of the approximately 5,000 acre fire. Units were on scene throughout the 25th and 26th.
On Saturday, during suppression efforts, a MRW tender turned over after losing a rear duel tire. The firefighter driver (sole occupant) suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital where he was treated for a shoulder injury. The tender suffered heavy damage. MRW volunteers were able to later right the tender and drive it out of the wilderness area.
