Murphy Reynolds Wilson Fire District is always open to new volunteers. Fire meetings are held the third Tuesday and EMS meetings the fourth Tuesday of every month at the Wilson Station in the Little Red Schoolhouse. The location is west off of state highway 78 mile near mile post 16. Fire Chief Chuck Cooley and the rest of the volunteers would be happy to meet you and answer your questions.
Requirements are:
- Must be 18 or older
- Must reside within 5 miles of the district boundaries (subject to individual consideration)
- Must be in good health
A junior firefighter program has been started recently to help build up the younger generation of fire and EMS volunteers. By bringing in volunteers when they’re young they will be well able to take over the duties of the department when needed. Junior trainees attend meetings and training with the rest of the department, are allowed to respond to all calls and work on all but structure fires. They may attend EMS training when offered if the so choose.
Requirements are:
- Must be 16 years old
- Must reside within 5 miles of the district boundaries (subject to individual consideration)
- Must be in good health
